Carolina
440 UHF Link System and IRLP summary
The K4JDR, 441.725 +100 PL is the Backbone Hub for the UHF Link
System and IRLP, its controller is
what supports the auto patch and other advanced functions for the Carolina 440 UHF Link System. It is located
on a tower just west of the Fairgrounds on Chapel Hill Rd. near the City of
Raleigh water tank. The antenna pattern is northeast. View the www.carolina440.net
web page for repeater details and
pictures of the UHF Link system. This system is what we call our Voice
Interoperability System for Amateur Radio, VISAR.
More about the VISAR system can be viewed at http://www.carolina440.net/VISAR.htm
.
The list below indicates the repeaters and
their geographical location to guide you on what repeater would be best for you
based on your location. All of the auto patch and IRLP functions can be used
from any repeater on the link. The
S-meter is only receiving your signal if you are on the 441.725 Hub otherwise it
will be the link radio from the other repeaters on the link to the Hub. When located around the
Fairgrounds or in areas east of Raleigh where the other repeaters in the link
are marginal, you may use the backbone repeater just as any other repeater. When
possible, please use the
repeaters on the link when in their coverage area to utilize the system. Each one has a unique footprint of
coverage. Hub frequencies are generally not given to users or
published since they are link
frequencies, but we have made an exception with our system due to some features
that can be used and while the repeaters on the links are under
construction.

IRLP Reflector contacts on Node 4260
(146.775) are open public access. Point-to-Point IRLP contacts on Nodes 4270, 5270 require local member
access codes. See Member Support for
IRLP and UHF link Access Codes. This financial support allows us to grow
and maintain the IRLP and link system.
