Raleigh/East Coast Reflector – 9210

The KD4RAA Repeater Group-sponsored 146.775 /PL 88.5 repeater and area UHF linked repeaters can link to hundreds of participating repeater sites throughout the United States and around the world. We are the first repeater system in North Carolina to support a linking node into the IRLP project. IRLP uses Voice-Over-IP software and the Internet to link Amateur Radio to the world. The system uses its own custom interface board and software package, designed by Canadian ham, Dave Cameron VE7LTD.

We have several nodes here in Raleigh and sponsor other IRLP nodes across the Carolinas. Here is the breakout of both our IRLP node list and associated UHF Link system in detail:
KD4RAA-K4JDR Sponsored IRLP links.

It is important that you view the KD4RAA IRLP User Guide .  There you will find definitions of IRLP terms and an operational guide to access our system. VoIP linked repeaters require that you pause a sec when you PTT before speaking to allow all of the links in the system to rise.

To support the local IRLP effort you can obtain node access codes by subscribing to group's Supporting Member Form. Donation Policy Information is here.

We are proud to have added the Raleigh / East Coast Reflector 9210 to our system in 2001. The reflector allows participating nodes to connect simultaneously and can be used not only for general linking in the Carolinas but for Emergency Response, Severe Weather Monitoring, Called Nets - regionally and internationally, special events like the International Space Station Contacts, Boy Scouts Jamboree Over the Air (JOTA) and Educational Contacts to the McMurdo Science Station in Antarctica and more. The National Hurricane Center uses Reflector 9219 / Echolink WX Talk interoperability for hurricane storm tracking, with net details at www.voipwx.net.

During Hurricane Lilly in 2004, we implemented the IRLP Skywarn reporting system on the Raleigh Reflector. The HNC began to depend on the connected repeaters for surface reports when HF conditions deteriorated. We then developed a relationship with Kevin Anderson KD5WX, caretaker of the WX Talk conference server on EchoLink, that also had begun doing reports with EchoLink in 2005.

We now have a combined interoperability system with an IRLP/Echolink gateway on channel 9 (9219) of the Raleigh Reflector to facilitate a “one point of contact” with the NHC and other response agencies. Tony Langdon VK3JED has implemented some special code on the reflector to allow us to achieve this interoperability.

Listening note: When an IRLP connection is active, you'll hear courtesy tone (beep) when local activity keys on the 146.775 repeater, node 4260 . When you hear a tri- tone, that is activity coming from the IRLP link side.
